Blair Brown is an American actress, director, and producer. She is best known for her roles in the films Altered States (1980), The Right Stuff (1983), and The Astronaut's Wife (1999). She has also appeared in numerous television series, including The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd (1987–1991), Fringe (2008–2013), and The Affair (2014–2019). Brown was born in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Elizabeth Ann (née Blair), a teacher, and Milton Henry Brown, a U.S. government economist. She graduated from The Madeira School in McLean, Virginia, and attended the National Theatre School of Canada. Brown has been married twice. Her first marriage was to actor Richard Jordan, with whom she had a daughter, actress Dinah Manoff. Her second marriage was to actor and director Paul Schmidt, with whom she had a son, actor and director Jake Schmidt. Brown has won numerous awards for her work, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama for The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd in 1988, and a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her performance in Copenhagen in 2000. She has also been nominated for five Primetime Emmy Awards.
